The causes for Global Climate change

Briefly explains the various natural causes as well as the human cause for global climate changes

The causes for global climate change fall into two categories: natural causes and those created by man. They are briefly explained below:

Natural Causes - Among the various natural causes for global climate change, the more important ones are: continental shift, earth’s tilt and ocean currents.

Continental shift - About 200 million years ago, the earth was one large land mass and the rest was only water. However, eventually various parts of the solid mass moved away from each other, drifted apart and thus were born the different continents as we know today. The physical separation of the continents caused them to evolve their own climate patterns.

Earth’s Tilt - The Earth makes one orbit around the sun each year and all the while it is also revolving around its own axis completing one revolution in 24 hours. The axis around which the earth revolves is tilted at an angle of 23.5 to the plane of the orbital path. Seasonal climate we experience depends on this tilt. The tilt of the axis itself is going through a very slow change, about half-degree per century and so do our seasons.
